Biography

Michelle Dunlap, Art Teacher

As a child I was encouraged to draw and enjoyed doing so. I painted my first still life oil-painting when I was 10, under the direction of my grandmother. In 1999, I graduate from Brigham Young University with Bachelor of Art in Design. My emphasis of study was in Interior and Graphic Design. Ever since, I have used my degree from doing design work for large companies to helping with kid projects. In 2013, my children began attending Thomas Edison Charter School. I've been so pleased with the education they have received, people they've met, and the positive student-focused environment. I am excited to be a part of the TECS team! The K-8 TECS Art Curriculum encompasses the National Visual Arts Standards and the Utah State Art Standards. Art lessons are focused to expose students to a variety of materials while relating projects to historic pieces and artists. I believe we are all artists with different perspectives and stories to tell."Art is as natural as sunshine and as vital as nourishment." -MaryAnn F. Kohl
